Welsh surgeon presents pioneering varicose vein method at conference

A vascular specialist from South Wales is set to represent Wales at an upcoming British Association of Sclerotherapists event, where he will showcase his unique approach to addressing varicose veins.

Huw Davies, who serves as a consultant vascular surgeon at Premier Veins located in Cardiff Gate Business Park, explained that during the Advanced Foam Sclerotherapy Workshop scheduled for the conference’s opening day, he will be presenting what he calls the Welsh Method. This represents his personal take on a vein treatment approach that was originally created more than 25 years ago by the medical professionals who subsequently established Premier Veins.

He mentioned that demonstrating his technique for Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy while explaining the clinical reasoning behind its application provides a valuable chance to share expertise with fellow specialists. According to him, such professional gatherings help maintain high-quality care standards for patients throughout the United Kingdom.

The British Association of Sclerotherapists’ 2026 conference is being held at The Macdonald Windsor Hotel. The programme will include lectures and practical demonstrations focused on treating both varicose and thread veins.

Premier Veins was founded in 2012 by a group of professionals with experience in the National Health Service and academic research. The facility offers sophisticated minimally invasive procedures designed to assist patients in restoring their self-assurance.

Mr Davies completed his medical education at Imperial College School of Medicine and commenced his clinical training at Charing Cross Hospital in London. He subsequently pursued advanced surgical studies in the West Midlands and has actively championed the use of ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy.
