Thieves steal multiple mopeds overnight and dump them on streets

A wave of bicycle thefts has hit Cwmbran, with numerous residents reporting that their mopeds and scooters have been taken.

Several bicycles are thought to have been taken in the Llanyravon district of Cwmbran during the early hours of Thursday morning, April 30.

The bicycles are thought to have been taken, damaged, and then left abandoned on local streets.

A Gwent Police representative stated that officers received a report of a stolen moped from the Llanyravon area of Cwmbran at approximately 3.25am on Thursday 30 April. The moped was found shortly after the report was made, and investigations are continuing.

Reports were received of several mopeds and bicycles being taken in Cwmbran in the early hours of this morning, April 30.

A witness told the South Wales Argus that a group of youths were observed carrying the bicycle along Manobier Drive towards Dorstone Walk. According to the witness, they brought a stolen bicycle from Kidwelly Road into the garages car park where it was smashed up, and police were called. The group fled up the lane after being spotted but returned through Dorstone to make another attempt, which was unsuccessful.

Gwent Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact officers on 101, referencing 2600133139, or to send a direct message via social media.
