A 21-year-old man has entered guilty pleas to charges of causing serious harm and assault resulting in bodily injury against his partner in Newport.
Evan Thomas, from Church Meadow in Glyn-gaer, Gelligaer within the Caerphilly area, acknowledged committing the attacks on the woman between early December last year and early January.
He has no prior criminal record.
Her Honour Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, presiding as the Recorder of Cardiff, postponed sentencing until late May after requesting a pre-sentence report and indicating the offences were grave in nature.
She further stated that every possibility remained under consideration, including immediate imprisonment.
Thomas was taken into custody.
