Is this Welsh path Britain’s favourite walk?

A UK-wide campaign has begun to determine which pathway the country values above all others.

The Ramblers’ Britain’s Favourite Path competition has reached its third edition, giving Britons across the nation the chance to put forward and celebrate the walking routes closest to their hearts.

Backed by Postcode Lottery players, the programme invites locals to upload a picture alongside a short account explaining what makes their chosen trail special.

Matt Johnson, a Postcode Lottery ambassador and one of this year’s judges, expressed his enthusiasm for serving on the panel and supporting the initiative alongside lottery participants, noting that communities in every postal district have paths deserving celebration.

Entries must arrive by 31 May 2026 and include both a photograph and a description of why the route holds personal significance.

An evaluation panel will shortlist eight finalists, after which voters across the country will select the ultimate winner during the late summer period.

The previous year’s competition drew hundreds of submissions from across the United Kingdom.

The Ramblers, a British charitable organisation dedicated to expanding walking access and safeguarding public footpaths, has accumulated more than £26 million in backing from Postcode Lottery players since 2015.
