A property developer has provided a £1,000 contribution towards a primary school’s initiative to establish an outdoor education facility.
Llangynwyd Primary School will utilise the money from Persimmon Homes West Wales to assist in developing a forest school, giving young people practical learning opportunities in the natural world.
The gift forms part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which backs groups throughout Wales.
Sharon Bouhali, the sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, explained that the company has an established history of assisting schools throughout West Wales alongside groups based in the Bridgend County borough area, and they were thrilled to continue this tradition through the contribution to Llangynwyd Primary School.
She also noted that the firm remains dedicated to supporting local public services, particularly educational provision, as part of its building plans for the area.
Kelly Kehoe, the headteacher at Llangynwyd Primary School, stated that this significant donation would prove invaluable in pursuing the school’s aim of delivering a forest school for its pupils, allowing them to receive hands-on instruction while making the most of the natural surroundings during their studies.
Additional local beneficiaries of Persimmon’s Community Champions funding encompass Llangynwyd Rangers FC, Coity Chiefs Girls, and Coity Community Council.
