A man aged 42 has faced drug-related charges after officers pursued him in Bargoed.
Patrol officers spotted the individual in the North Road region at approximately 9.30pm on Monday, April 27, and engaged in a brief chase on foot before taking him into custody and conducting a search.
The search was executed by the Community Action Team following the pursuit, during which officers found bags holding white powder, money and a mobile phone.
The 42-year-old was apprehended on grounds of suspected possession of class A drugs with intent to supply, involvement in cocaine distribution, possession of proceeds of crime, assaulting a police officer carrying out duties and assaulting an emergency services worker.
He was held at a police station, questioned and subsequently charged with these offences.
His appearance took place at Newport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 29.
He was held on remand.
