Over one hundred and fifty cars were observed during a road safety initiative on New Park Road in Risca.

The programme was conducted by the Caerphilly Central Neighbourhood Policing Team in collaboration with the Enforcement Team, Roads Policing and Specialist Operations, as well as South Wales Fire and Rescue Service as part of a combined effort to boost road safety.

Among the 153 vehicles tracked, twenty-seven motorists were approached and given guidance about their speed.

Two traffic violation reports were generated.

A further notice will be dispatched by post.

One driver was discovered to be impaired by drugs and received appropriate action.

A Gwent Police representative stated that operating a vehicle responsibly is a duty shared by all. Speed restrictions exist to safeguard every person using the roads. Even a minor rise in velocity can lead to catastrophic results. Motorists were urged to reduce their speed, remain attentive, and never operate a vehicle while impaired. Through a combination of educational initiatives and enforcement measures, authorities aim to create safer roads for all.
