A newly opened 4,400 square foot strength and performance training centre has become the fourth fitness business to begin operations at Mamhilad Park Estate throughout 2024.
Gareth Betts Strength and Performance delivers an extensive selection of services to the estate’s growing health and wellbeing complex, according to representatives.
The centre is run by ex-professional rugby player Gareth Betts, who formerly played for Ebbw Vale and Newport RFC and now works as strength and conditioning coach for Pontypool RFC.
Mr Betts explained that he is satisfied with how the facility has been set up and its location, which conveniently serves both the Pontypool side and the local schools and youth groups he partners with. Having all necessary equipment and resources in one place to improve athletic performance through strength and conditioning represents the ideal situation.
The venue features a 3G surface complete with shock absorption, a 25-metre sprint track, power racks, free weights, and a space designated for video analysis.
This addition brings the total number of health-related businesses at the estate to eighteen, alongside providers offering psychotherapy and counselling, physiotherapy, floatation therapy, aesthetics and beauty services, chiropractic treatment, and dyslexia assessment and support.
Additional fitness enterprises at the site include Perfect Balance, a reformer Pilates studio, alongside women’s fitness brands Mamau Ffit and En-Core Fitness.
The Wellbeing Hub first opened the previous year and expanded into a second section in December following robust demand.
Mike Whitson, speaking on behalf of Johnsey Estates UK Ltd, the company that owns the estate, noted that a significant attraction of the Wellbeing Hub for local businesses looking to establish themselves or expand has been the chance to position themselves alongside other complementary operators. Customers value the ease of parking access combined with a variety of fitness and therapeutic services in one place, all set within a tranquil, green setting. The company is considering introducing local chiropody services alongside dental and general medical practices to offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing package for local residents.
The 140-acre Mamhilad Park Estate houses a diverse range of professional services, creative workspaces, manufacturing operations, emergency services, and NHS healthcare facilities.
The property offers 1.4 million square feet of office and industrial space, a café, childcare facilities, a gym, hair and beauty salons, training and meeting rooms, and extensive storage solutions.
