A 19-year-old man has been issued with a sexual risk order after police discovered he had more than 100 inappropriate images of minors in his possession.
Charlie Trickett, from Cwm Braenar in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, was made subject to the two-year order after officers applied to Cardiff Magistrates’ Court. Such orders impose particular conditions on those named in them.
The restrictions placed on Trickett include:
He is prohibited from any activity, whether conducted for payment, as volunteer work or for recreation, that would place him in a supervisory role with anyone under the age of 16
He must notify his designated sex offender manager of the police force area in which he lives within one week of commencing any new intimate relationship
Any information concerning romantic partners must be disclosed to officers, encompassing their complete name, birth date, home address and telephone number
Trickett was handed an 18-month community sentence by Newport Magistrates’ Court this past December.
The accused entered guilty pleas to possession of 68 indecent photographs of children rated as category A, the most serious tier, 33 category B inappropriate images of minors, and 16 category C photographs of children.
His offending took place between April 30, 2023 and March 4, 2025.
Trickett was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the community and participate in a 20-day rehabilitation activity programme.
A requirement for 12 months of mental health treatment was imposed, obliging him to attend sessions with a doctor or psychologist.
Additionally, he must sign the sex offenders register for five years and was told to pay a £114 victim surcharge along with £85 in court costs.
