People living near a burned-out structure in Haverfordwest were advised to remain inside and seal up their homes after flames ripped through an abandoned building late Monday evening.
Crews from Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, dispatched by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, arrived at Snowdrop Lane at 11.19pm on April 27.
The two-storey abandoned property burned intensely, spreading smoke throughout the neighborhood. Dyfed-Powys Police instructed nearby residents to keep doors and windows secured while responders worked at the location.
Firefighting teams deployed 45mm jets and hose reel attachments to combat the flames. A turntable ladder functioned as an elevated water source, and a water bowser provided additional supply support.
The structure, referred to locally as the former Snowdrop Bakery site, was completely consumed by fire. Firefighters conducted follow-up inspections before exiting at 2.03am on April 28. An investigation will determine what sparked the blaze.
By Tuesday morning, transportation monitoring indicated significant traffic buildup throughout Haverfordwest. Vehicles moved slowly along the A40 in both directions near Cartlett, Narberth Road and the Withybush roundabout.
The A487, Freemens Way and routes approaching Merlins Bridge experienced heavy volume as motorists sought alternative routes around the affected zone.
Officers continued gathering information door-to-door on streets adjacent to Snowdrop Lane. Authorities asked residents to maintain safety precautions should any smoke persist.
The roadway remains passable, though police presence continues in the vicinity.
