A man who harassed someone warned his victim to drop her court action against him using an eye for an eye remark.
Christopher Pizey, who lives at Oak Place in Bargoed, Caerphilly, was initially taken into custody for bombarding his ex-partner with 50 unwanted text messages and phone calls between January 29 and February 18.
The 38-year-old was granted bail before getting in touch with her using his brother’s mobile phone, public prosecutor Joshua Scouller stated.
At Cardiff Crown Court, it was disclosed that the accused made contact with her and the victim recorded the discussion.
He told her to drop the charges or suffer consequences.
The accused cautioned that she would lose her home.
He used the phrase, An eye for an eye.
In her statement describing the impact on her, the complainant said she felt extremely stressed and suffered from serious anxiety.
Pizey admitted to stalking and intimidating a witness.
The defendant has a criminal history comprising 14 previous convictions covering 18 offences, which include harassment and breaching a restraining order.
His lawyer Alice Sykes asked the court to consider her client’s guilty pleas and the four months he spent in custody after his second arrest.
She submitted that there is another side to this man and that he genuinely regrets his actions.
The court heard that Pizey’s most recent previous conviction was 11 years ago in 2016 and that he engages in voluntary charitable work.
Judge Greg Bull KC told him his unwelcome calls and messages caused his victim considerable psychological harm. He then frightened her by requesting she discontinue the legal proceedings.
The defendant received a 12-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
Pizey must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the community and participate in a certified 20-day rehabilitation programme.
He was placed under electronic monitoring within an exclusion zone for six months and subject to a restraining order lasting ten years.
A victim surcharge will also be applied.
