We understand that a significant stretch of the Heads of the Valleys Road has been closed to traffic, with drivers being directed along different paths.

First responders have been seen in the area and we have contacted Gwent Police for further information.

Gwent Police have issued a statement online stating that the A465 merge lane onto the M4 will be shut throughout the night. This could lead to hold-ups, so drivers should steer clear of the zone and consider other options for their trip.

They further noted that the A465 exit toward Ebbw Vale is presently sealed off.

Travellers may experience congestion, so avoiding the vicinity is advisable, with alternate routes strongly recommended for journeys.

Welcome back to our live updates.

Officials have confirmed that the carriageway leading toward Ebbw Vale has been sealed off owing to a van blaze.

An official commented that emergency services were alerted to a van catching fire, with one lane remaining blocked while two have been reopened.

Efforts to remove the blazing van are underway. Officers appear to be leaving the scene.
