The local authority examined its initial yearly compensation report for elected officials.

This document, presented during the Democratic Services Committee gathering on April 20, outlines compensation received by council members throughout the 2026/27 fiscal period.

These payments, encompassing wages, allowances, and supplementary compensation, were distributed following guidelines established by the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru.

The document verified that the council complied with statutory requirements and followed recommendations set forth by the Independent Remuneration Panel.

The session occurred at the Council Chamber, County Hall, The Rhadyr, Usk, with County Councillors Lisa Dymock, Meirion Howells, Louise Brown, Tomos Davies, David Jones, Tony Kear, Su McConnel, Peter Strong, Tudor Thomas, and Christopher Edwards present.

John Pearson, the local democracy manager, and Nicola Perry, the senior democracy officer, attended as officers.

County Councillor John Crook submitted his regrets.

The committee decided to acknowledge the report.

During this gathering, members also reviewed documentation from the prior session conducted on November 13, 2025.

Councillor Strong put forward the motion to approve the minutes, with Councillor Howells providing the second.
