Drug dealer warned he’ll face prison next month

A dealer has been warned he will likely receive a custodial term when he returns to court next month.

Daniel James, aged 23 and residing at Spencer Way in Newport, entered guilty pleas to charges including involvement in supplying cocaine, involvement in supplying ketamine, and having ketamine with the intention of supplying it.

The defendant additionally acknowledged charges of simple possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis.

The criminal conduct took place between March 19, 2025 and July 23, 2025.

Proceedings have been postponed until May 29 to allow for a pre-sentence report to be compiled.

At Newport Crown Court, Judge Celia Hughes stated: “There is a strong likelihood of a prison sentence.”

James was released on unconditional bail.

William Bebb acted for the defendant while Jason Howells represented the prosecution.
