A collision involving seven vehicles created delays of approximately 30 minutes on the M4 motorway in the Newport vicinity on Saturday. Reports emerged of an incident on the eastbound carriageway during the afternoon hours. According to AA road monitoring, traffic built up and one lane was shut for recovery operations following the impact between junction 23A (serving Magor Services via the A4810) and junction 23 (connecting to the M48). Witnesses noted that progress was also hampered on the westbound side as drivers slowed to observe the scene, with additional hold-ups developing around the Coldra area where motorists experienced similar 30-minute setbacks. Emergency services attended the scene following reports of the multi-vehicle impact, which occurred at approximately 1pm on Saturday, April 25. Officers from Gwent Police confirmed the incident involved a bumper-to-bumper collision between the seven vehicles, with no casualties reported. Normal traffic conditions have since resumed throughout the affected stretch.
