Communities are being urged to unite for charitable purposes and outdoor social events throughout the summer months.

The initiative, coordinated by the National Garden Scheme with Dame Mary Berry as its patron, is prompting UK residents to arrange various social occasions to benefit nursing and healthcare organisations.

Participants can organize events in residential outdoor areas, professional settings, or communal parks to collect donations for multiple charitable causes. These include support for individuals affected by cancer, terminal illnesses, end-of-life care, caregiver assistance, community nursing initiatives, and neurological conditions.

Dame Mary Berry expressed enthusiasm about bringing people together, noting that the event welcomes everyone regardless of whether they have a spacious lawn or merely a modest outdoor corner. She emphasised that the true value lies in gathering with companions, family members, and coworkers.

The designated campaign period spans from July 13 to 19, though supporters may arrange activities whenever convenient throughout the twelve months.

Participants might consider hosting cream teas, summer cookouts, baking competitions, outdoor meals, or similar celebrations.
