Educational establishments throughout Britain are being encouraged to join a countrywide green initiative.

The programme, forming part of the Great Big Green Week 2026, promotes activity for climate and wildlife and will take place between June 6 and 14 under the banner Together for Good.

Coordinators anticipate participation from approximately two million individuals, encompassing schools, companies, local associations and religious bodies.

Mary Corfield from Great Big Green Week stated that schools form the core of the event, and annually they manage to motivate everyone involved. She noted that witnessing young individuals unite for a positive cause—whether through classroom exercises, school gatherings or real-time lessons linking them with children overseas—holds something remarkable.

Schools have access to complimentary support materials from the Great Big Green Week to aid their participation.

These resources contain classroom-ready tasks, teaching suggestions and instructions on how institutions can officially log their activities.

Two interactive online lessons will additionally be streamed throughout the week.

On Tuesday June 9, primary-aged pupils can watch a wildlife-focused session hosted by Steve Backshall in collaboration with WWF.

On Thursday June 11, The Climate Coalition and Save the Children will jointly deliver a cross-border classroom experience linking British schoolchildren with learners in Malawi to learn directly about experiencing climate change effects.

Shruti Agarwal, senior climate adviser, explained that young people’s perspectives are essential in addressing the environmental emergency. The project intends to provide opportunities for mutual comprehension, contemplation and suitable action on a matter already influencing children’s existences globally.
