Wales has experienced the most extended period of uninterrupted reduction in NHS waiting lists since records began.
Welsh Labour has tracked nine consecutive months of falling waiting lists, calling it the most notable sustained decrease ever documented and crediting healthcare staff for the gains.
Eluned Morgan, who leads Welsh Labour, said the progress represents real advancement in broadening access to outpatient services and medical treatment across Wales, with NHS workers making it possible.
She added that Welsh Labour had prioritised cutting the backlog and lengthy waiting periods, and that success is exactly what is being achieved.
Morgan pointed out that the present typical waiting period for treatment is 16.7 weeks, whereas when she took up the position of first minister the figure stood at 23 weeks. She highlighted a drop of 70,000 patients from the waiting list during the past three months, calling it meaningful progress.
She stated that only Welsh Labour has a plan to guarantee waiting lists keep falling, and only Welsh Labour can ensure that progress is not undone on May 7.
