Commuters are experiencing heavy traffic on the M4 in the Newport area this morning, with slow-moving conditions reported on certain sections.

According to the AA, motorists are facing four-minute delays with these holding times growing on the eastbound carriageway between junction 26 A4051 (Malpas Road) and junction 24 A449 (Coldra).

The typical speed being achieved is 20 miles per hour.

Vehicles are backed up on the A467 Forge Road in the southbound direction approaching junction 28 of the M4 (Tredegar Park).

The estimated journey time stands at ten minutes.

This congestion originates from junction 25A Grove Park / A4042 in the eastbound direction.
