A care worker has passed away after ingesting a lethal mixture of prescription medication and illegal substances.
Wendy Louise Jones, a Brynmawr resident, was found deceased at her residence on Brecnock Close on September 5, 2025, during an inquest inquiry.
Proceedings took place at Gwent Coroner’s Court in Newport on March 30, where it was determined the 45-year-old succumbed to the poisonous effects of taking too many prescribed drugs and street substances.
The compounds identified as playing a role in her demise were morphine, cocaine, amitriptyline and sertraline.
Senior coroner Caroline Saunders officially registered a drug-related fatality and stated there was no indication of any other person being involved.
The medical explanation for death was documented as drug consumption, specifically involving morphine, cocaine, amitriptyline and sertraline.
Mrs Jones entered the world on May 12, 1980, in Abergavenny and pursued a career as a residential care worker.
The inquiry into her passing commenced on September 11, 2025, with the inquest formally opened on November 17, before receiving its full hearing in March 2026.
