Magistrates dealt with the following matters at court.
David Bevin, aged 43 and living in Caerau Road, Newport, was directed to pay £253 which included a financial penalty, associated costs and an additional surcharge after pleading guilty to stealing a £30 bottle of sparkling rose wine from Marks & Spencer on March 28.
Robbie Blanchard, 46 and resident at Tillery Street in Abertillery, was issued with a financial penalty, costs and surcharge totalling £628 after confessing to depositing several bags of rubbish at the Carmel Street car park on December 30 2024.
Nathan Gough, 39 and from Stevelee in Coed Eva, Cwmbran, received a six-month conditional discharge having admitted to behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner in Pontypool on March 27. He was additionally ordered to pay £111 in costs together with a surcharge.
Michael Tiley, 52 and living in Gwyddon Road, Abercarn, Caerphilly, had his licence removed for 14 months after confessing to operating a vehicle with excess alcohol in his system, registering 52 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, on the M4 eastbound carriageway in Chepstow on March 30. A financial penalty, costs and surcharge amounting to £505 were imposed.
Tahmid Choudhury, 28 and from York Place in Newport, was given a 12-month community order and a 42-month driving prohibition after admitting to operating a vehicle while impaired by a cannabis derivative along Corporation Road on January 25 the preceding year and to failing to provide a breath specimen for examination on April 17. He was directed to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work and pay a £114 surcharge along with £85 in costs.
Mark Anthony Lehaj, 47 and resident at Markham Crescent in Oakdale, Blackwood, received a six-month driving ban after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle without due care and attention on the M4 motorway in Newport between Junction 27 and Junction 24 on December 27 the previous year. He was ordered to pay £186 comprising a financial penalty, costs and a surcharge.
Neil Jones, 44 and living at Mill Close in Energlyn, Caerphilly, was directed to pay £253 in a financial penalty, costs and surcharge after admitting to assault by beating on March 28.
