Big Give launches record campaign to safeguard Earth’s future

Published on

Big Give has launched an unprecedented environmental funding campaign.

Earth Raise 2026 aims to gather more than £10 million across seven days to support over 330 groups tackling urgent ecological issues.

The initiative will run from April 22 to April 29, with all public donations matched through the Big Give platform.

James Reed, chairman of Big Give, said the campaign transforms concern into meaningful action during a crucial period for the planet. He observed that while climate change and species loss grow increasingly evident, so do the solutions and organisations pioneering progress.

The programme has secured £5 million in matched funding from charitable backers, with £1 million originating from the Postcode Green Trust.

Laura Chow, head of charities at Postcode Lottery, noted that participants in the Postcode Lottery would be providing £1 million in matched funding, effectively doubling resources for environmental charities operating on the ground throughout the United Kingdom.

Nick Gardener, executive director at the Environmental Funders Network, emphasised the value of collaboration. He pointed out that the scale and collective nature of this undertaking demonstrates what becomes possible when donors, platforms, and ordinary people work together.
