Movement of vehicles has returned to normal on the M48 Severn Bridge following a major crash that took place in the early hours of Sunday, April 19.

The eastbound section between Junction 2 close to Chepstow and Junction 1 in Bristol was closed to traffic at around 1:23am, with emergency services sent to the scene and diversion routes put in place.

The roadway stayed sealed off for several hours but has now returned to regular use.

An official from The Severn Bridges group indicated that the M48 Severn Bridge eastbound road between Chepstow’s Junction 2 and Bristol’s Junction 1 is now completely open following a major crash, with no congestion reported on nearby routes.

The South Wales Argus has contacted Gwent Police seeking further details.
