Torfaen Council’s economy and environment overview and scrutiny panel is set to convene on April 23 to assess the strategic path ahead for Destination Torfaen.

Proceedings will commence at 10am, combining remote participation through video link with physical attendance at the Council Chamber within the Civic Centre in Pontypool. Councillors and supporting officers are anticipated to be present, with a minimum of three members required to form a valid quorum.

Attendees must declare any personal interests connected to matters listed on the agenda.

The committee will begin by ratifying the minutes from the March 12, 2026 meeting, before moving on to consider outstanding items detailed on the Action Sheet.

A number of documents will be examined during the session, including App 1 – Torfaen DMP Situation report dated March 16, App 2 – PIM Draft Business Case Review 2025, App 3 – Canal Strategy 2024 to 2034, and App 4 – M&B Canal RAG status for Scrutiny.

The next gathering is planned for July 9, 2026, enabling further discussion of issues affecting the borough’s economy and environment.

The meeting will be streamed live and open to public viewing.

Those wishing to address the committee in Welsh must submit their request no fewer than three working days prior to the session, at which point simultaneous translation facilities will be put in place.
