Five Hospitalized After Neighborhood Crash

A female has been arrested on suspicion of drug-related impaired driving after a crash involving two cars on West Street in Bargoed.

The smash occurred at approximately 3:45pm on Tuesday 14 April, with the road sealed off while emergency services worked at the location.

Five people were taken to hospital by ambulance crews as a precaution.

Officers detained a 29-year-old woman from the Blackwood area on suspicion of drug driving.

She has been granted conditional release while enquiries into the incident continue.

Gwent Police confirmed they were called to West Street in Bargoed at around 3:45pm on Tuesday 14 April.

Officers from the force attended alongside crews from the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The collision involved two vehicles, and five casualties were transferred to hospital for precautionary assessment.

A 29-year-old woman from the Blackwood area was arrested on suspicion of drug driving; she has been released on police bail while investigations continue.

The carriageway, which was closed during vehicle recovery, has now reopened to traffic.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area while emergency services worked at the scene and vehicles were recovered.

Enquiries remain ongoing.
