Newport residents should prepare for wet weather on Friday, according to the Met Office.

The likelihood of precipitation begins at 30 percent at 9am before climbing to 80 percent by noon.

Meteorologists predict rainfall starting at 12pm.

The probability of rain rises to 90 percent at 1pm, making rain gear advisable.

Temperatures peak at 14 degrees Celsius at 4pm, with southwesterly winds blowing at 11mph and gusts reaching 23mph.

Showers will continue throughout the afternoon, holding steady at 90 percent through 2pm.

Evening temperatures will dip slightly to 13 degrees Celsius as the chance of rain decreases slightly.

The Met Office projects precipitation chances to decrease to 20 percent by 7pm.

By 9pm, the probability of rain drops considerably to 10 percent, with temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius.

Towards midnight, temperatures fall to 9 degrees Celsius, with rain chances falling below 5 percent, suggesting a drier night ahead.

Winds originating from the southwest will maintain their direction while decreasing from 11mph to 8mph by 10pm.

Visibility is anticipated to remain largely good as night falls.

Saturday will start on a drier note with temperatures approximately 8 degrees Celsius.

Prior to 8am, there is less than a 5 percent chance of rain.

Temperatures will climb gradually to reach 14 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

While rainfall appears unlikely during the morning hours, isolated showers may occur between 10am and 5pm, though probabilities remain at 10 percent or lower.

Westerly winds will be somewhat gentler than in the morning, anticipated to range from 8 to 9mph throughout the day.

The Met Office anticipates a predominantly dry Saturday, with visibility remaining mostly good.

For Sunday, the first portion of the day is expected to stay dry with precipitation probability below 5 percent.

North-north-easterly winds, marginally stronger at 6 to 7mph, along with high temperatures of 14 degrees Celsius, may create a cooler feel.

Light showers may develop around noon and continue until 3pm.

The afternoon will see clearing conditions, with temperatures holding at 14 degrees Celsius.

As the Met Office forecasts, visibility stays good for much of the day.
