The celebrated Welsh performer and double Academy Award recipient Anthony Hopkins has been observed working on location in Gwynedd for his newest cinematic venture.
The 88-year-old is taking the lead role in A Visit To Grandpa’s, a film adaptation of the coming-of-age tale penned by Welsh writer Dylan Thomas.
Production crews were captured on film at Y Bont Fawr in Dolgellau during Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
Local resident Ian King, who manages the Dolgellau community Facebook page, recounted that the star arrived driving a white Range Rover and was seen conversing with the production team before performing a scene alongside a young boy.
King mentioned that since he resides in the town, he noticed road closures near the bridge during the morning hours and decided to investigate later, as the location was merely a brief stroll from his residence.
He observed that activity appeared to be underway, so he remained in the area and the actor appeared approximately ten minutes after.
King also spotted the star again in the car park where he was speaking with townspeople and permitting them to capture photographs with him, describing the encounter as notably amicable.
In previous comments about the picture, Hopkins described it as a compelling and exquisitely moving narrative that offered him the chance to reconnect with his Welsh heritage while discovering the extraordinary imagination and literary artistry of Dylan Thomas.
He added that collaborating once more with director DJ Caruso represented an honour, noting the profound creative partnership they have developed together.
