Principality Stadium battles for two major global awards

Published on

Cardiff’s Principality Stadium has earned two finalist positions at an internationally recognised awards scheme.

The venue has been named a contender in the Event of the Year and Product Innovation divisions of TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2026, which honour leadership, innovation and achievements across the worldwide stadium and arena sector.

The Welsh stadium is in the running for Event of the Year after hosting the launch shows of Oasis Live ’25 world tour on July 4 and 5, marking the Gallagher brothers’ reconciliation and kicking off the year’s second highest-earning concert series.

Stadium manager Mark Williams said being chosen by Oasis as the starting point for their much-anticipated comeback tour was a tremendous honour, and the two July shows surpassed all expectations. The atmosphere inside with the roof sealed was extraordinary, with concertgoers witnessing that historic first moment that will be talked about for generations.

The venue has also secured recognition in the Product Innovation category for collaborating with GiveVision to introduce visual accessibility technology for fans with sight difficulties.

GiveVision equipment was put through its paces at major 2025 occasions such as the Women’s Six Nations rugby competition and a Kendrick Lamar and SZA concert, before being incorporated into the stadium’s accessibility offerings.

Dan Cook, who leads ticketing operations at the Welsh Rugby Union, explained that the ambition had always been straightforward: to transform Principality Stadium into the most accessible and welcoming venue in the United Kingdom. The approach was simple: ensuring every spectator could enjoy live entertainment with the same freedom, dignity and independence as anyone else.

GiveVision representative Stan Karpenko stated that working alongside industry pioneers like Principality Stadium, who had embraced this technology, was a source of great pride, and the company remained dedicated to making certain that no visually impaired fan was excluded, regardless of where they were seated.

TheStadiumBusiness Awards ceremony is set to take place on June 3 in Manchester.
