Newport Judicial Proceedings: Comprehensive Overview

Magistrates’ court has seen several cases concluded recently.

A 23-year-old man from Christchurch Road in Newport has been ordered to pay £316 after admitting to owning a car without valid insurance cover. The amount covers a fine, court costs and a victim surcharge.

A £736 financial penalty was handed to a 40-year-old driver from Ladyhill Road, Newport for travelling at excessive speed in a zone limited to 50mph. Five points were also added to his driving licence.

A 43-year-old man from Caerau Road, Newport received a 12-week custodial sentence after pleading guilty to two theft charges involving confectionery worth £60 and £40. The items were taken from a Tesco Express store on March 31. He was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

A 46-year-old woman residing in Salway Avenue, Pengam, Blackwood was fined £428 for operating or installing a television receiver without a valid licence.

A £326 financial penalty was imposed on a 55-year-old from Museum Court, Griffithstown, Pontypool after she admitted to speeding in a 70mph area. Three points were recorded on her licence.

A 47-year-old woman from St Anne’s Road, Blackwood was required to pay £176 for keeping a motor vehicle without proper insurance.

A man living at Islwyn Terrace, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood received a £660 fine along with £160.42 in unpaid vehicle duty and £85 costs for maintaining an uninsured car.

A 47-year-old from Griffin Street, Six Bells, Abertillery was ordered to pay £1,044 in total for driving or keeping a motor vehicle on a public road without insurance. Six penalty points were endorsed on his licence.

A 50-year-old from Woodside Terrace, Llanhilleth was banned from driving for six months for using a motor vehicle on a road or public area without insurance. He must also pay £1,044.

A man from Shepherds Hill Caravan Site, Lower Race, Pontypool was fined £220 with £85 costs and £71.67 in unpaid vehicle duty for keeping a vehicle without valid licensing.
