Gwent’s health emergency: Election promises examined

Published on

The health and welfare of patients continues to be the priority for all workers at our hospitals and clinics, and their constant commitment merits acknowledgment.

The recently announced deficit at the Aneurin Bevan Trust is cause for significant concern, especially considering the board’s target of securing £40 million in savings during the 2025/26 fiscal year.

Following press reports indicating that 3,000 residents across Gwent are on waiting lists for operations, a letter has been sent to the chief executive requesting their stance and an actionable plan to tackle these delays.

It would prove useful if members from all political parties could present their solutions through the Argus letters column, allowing residents and readers to form educated opinions prior to the forthcoming election.

How many have actually held discussions with management and undertaken inspections of the Grange to confront this matter whilst putting forward practical suggestions?

Working together alongside the health board and ambulance service remains vital to progress solutions for all those affected.
