Suspect facing charges after reports of cyclist checking vehicle locks

A person aged 43, residing in Newport, is facing charges following accounts of a cyclist attempting to open vehicle doors.

Officers were alerted to reports of a cyclist trying car doors along Deepwater Drive in the Glan Llyn area around 10:45am on Monday, April 13. Emergency services personnel arrived at the location and conducted a stop-and-search on a man on Broaching Close. Investigators discovered a pair of sunglasses during the examination.

The individual now faces accusations of stealing from a vehicle and interfering with a motor vehicle. He has been granted conditional police bail and is scheduled to appear before Newport Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 8.
