A 47-year-old man from Newport has been penalised after police detected his vehicle travelling at 100mph on a dual carriageway. Gavin Rawlings appeared before Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court and admitted exceeding the speed limit by 30mph on the A449, which runs between Newport and Raglan. The incident occurred on February 4. Rawlings, whose address is listed as Springfield Court in Llanmartin, Newport, received six penalty points on his driving licence and a fine of £113. He was additionally required to pay £130 in court costs along with a £45 surcharge.
