Approximately 6,000 visitors flocked to the Ystrad Mynach Food, Drink and Music Festival in the town centre on Saturday, March 28, with organisers declaring it the busiest day the area has seen this year.
Caerphilly County Borough Council staged the festival, which offered an array of market stalls, live music acts, and family-oriented activities throughout the day.
Local traders, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs observed a notable surge in footfall and commercial activity.
The Card Shop, situated in the town centre, reported that the day had been hectic with a fantastic atmosphere prevailing, noting the town had been considerably more energetic than typically observed.
Bluebelles, another independent retailer, described the occasion as excellent, stating they had been exceptionally busy, crediting the pleasant weather for making a substantial impact and extending congratulations to the Events Team for their hard work.
Cwm Bakery also enjoyed strong trading, indicating they had been bustling from the outset with sales remaining steady throughout the day. The bakery expressed delight at seeing residents out in force, affirming that occasions of this nature provided valuable support to the town and commending all those responsible for making it possible.
The festival represented the third major gathering the council has arranged this year, following on from the Big Welsh Festival and Bargoed Fair.
These three events combined have drawn more than 11,000 visitors to various town centres across the county borough.
Council representatives suggested these gatherings are strengthening the profile of high street areas while bringing fresh customers to neighbourhood businesses and encouraging repeat patronage.
The next borough-wide celebration will be the Caerphilly Food and Drink Festival, set to take place on Saturday, April 18.
This year’s Ystrad Mynach Christmas Market is planned for December 5, incorporating the town’s official lights switch-on ceremony alongside the Music and Light Santa Hat Lantern Parade.
