Don’t miss out: £3,000 Apprentice of the Year contest now open

Published on

Applications are now open for an award recognising promising talent in the electrical engineering sector.

The ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award continues in 2026 by highlighting outstanding apprentices working for ECA Member businesses across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales, with the winner set to pocket £3,000.

Keith Sanderson, who oversees education and skills programmes at the Electrical Contractors’ Association, explained that those the organisation supports today will determine the future of the profession, with apprentices forming the essential foundation of that development.

He added that as demand for secure electrical installations and the move towards net zero intensifies, the industry needs confident, skilled engineers joining the profession, supported by businesses invested in comprehensive training.

The ECA Member company employing the victorious apprentice will secure a twelve-month BSI membership (accessible to firms with yearly turnover below £6.5 million) together with a twelve-month Electrical OM Licence worth more than £300.

Two additional apprentices along with their respective ECA Member employers will also receive recognition as runners-up.

The entry period concludes on Friday, May 29, 2026.
