Step-by-Step Guide to Adding South Wales Argus to Google’s Preferred Sources

Published on

The technology company has launched a Preferred Sources feature allowing users to choose their main news suppliers and get up-to-date coverage of community happenings.

This latest capability lets people select which outlets show up in their Top Stories segment when conducting searches.

Having first become available in America and India, the option has now been released to users worldwide.

Google explained that users can save their favourite outlets and obtain fresh content from the platforms they follow and subscribe to, whether that is a sports website or a local newspaper.

Here is how to include the South Wales Argus among your Preferred Sources on Google.

Including South Wales Argus in Google Preferred Sources

Type South Wales news into Google’s search field

Click the symbol located next to the Top stories region

Input South Wales Argus or southwalesargus.co.uk into the Preferred Sources search box that emerges

Tick the box next to South Wales Argus

When you return to Google and reload your results, additional South Wales Argus content will start appearing in your Top Stories section.

A Google blog post confirmed that after making source selections, these publications will feature more frequently in Top Stories or in a dedicated From your sources section on the search results page.

Content from other websites will continue to display, and adjustments can be made whenever users wish.

Individuals can include as many sources as they want, and feedback from early Labs testers showed that people valued having access to various outlets, with over half choosing four or more.

Users who had previously signed up for Labs will have their preferences automatically implemented and will keep seeing more material from those sites in Top Stories.
