Caerphilly is set to host its debut comedy festival this month, bringing fresh entertainment to the Valleys region.
The inaugural Caerphilly Comedy Festival spans three nights scheduled for April 15, 17, and 18, featuring professional stand-up acts, opportunities for performers to trial fresh material, and displays of homegrown talent.
The venture comes from Chris Barnes and Tommy Smith, who manage the Rogues Gallery Comedy Club in Swansea. They explained that their intention was to develop an event that engages local people with comedy as active contributors rather than passive observers.
Newcomers attempting stand-up for the first time will appear alongside seasoned circuit performers, and this blend holds significance for the pair.
Their vision centres on employing community venues, ensuring affordable access, and proving that excellent comedy is not confined to metropolitan hubs but can flourish right here in Caerphilly.
The celebration kicks off at The Project, coinciding with the second anniversary of their established monthly comedy gathering held there.
Programming highlights include the School of Comedy initiative, a three-week programme delivered at Cynefin Caerffili situated at Y Banc.
Learners enrolled in the 2026 intake will present their initial stand-up routines during the School of Comedy Graduation Show on April 17.
The event wraps up on April 18 with a Grand Finale evening at Caerphilly Working Mens Hall.
Leading the closing bill is Netflix performer Leroy Brito, joined by Terry Mynott from Motherland, Steffan Evans, and Tommy Smith.
Chris Barnes, serving as co-organiser, will compere the final night.
