Italian dining chain faces collapse as all British restaurants risk shutting down

Published on

An Italian bar and restaurant group operating multiple venues throughout Britain has gone into administration for the second occasion.

Veeno Bars commenced operations in 2013 and has since sought to enable patrons to enjoy authentic Italian culinary and wine customs.

Its founders possess a dedication to showcasing their family’s winemaking traditions, bringing in their Sicilian wines for British customers.

On April 8, the company entered administration with all five of its British establishments facing potential shutdown, according to The Sun.

Veeno Bars maintains locations in Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Leicester.

The chain also operates a single venue in Wroclaw, Poland.

Although the company has entered administration, it has emphasised that all British outlets remain open and operational at present.

Veeno Bars informed Newsquest that the company had undergone restructuring as part of a strategic realignment, enabling it to refocus the enterprise and return to its fundamental origins.

This entails placing greater focus on what has always distinguished Veeno: genuine Italian wine, the family narrative, and a more intimate, experience-focused approach for guests.

The company continues trading and does not intend to close any locations.

Instead, this process presents an opportunity to simplify operations and reinforce the core concept, guaranteeing sustainability while remaining faithful to its beginnings.

The priority involves constructing a stronger, more focused Veeno going forward, with emphasis on quality, storytelling, and authentic customer relationships.

The Manchester venue shut its doors in 2022, while the Chester site closed this year.

The company entered administration in an effort to rescue the business, having previously appointed administrators in 2019.

Rodrigue Trouillet acquired the company, preventing the restaurants from shutting down.

Businesses that entered administration in 2026

2026 has witnessed numerous retailers and companies entering administration alongside others announcing extensive closure programmes.

British beauty company Beauty Bay submitted an administration application in March 2026 but was rescued.

What occurs when a company enters administration?

A French-owned entity named AA Investments Group purchased the business for an undisclosed sum, preserving locations and employment.

Russell & Bromley, Moores, Claire’s, The Original Factory Shop, Quiz, Denby, National Car Parks (NCP) and airline Royal Air Philippines have also recently entered administration.
