Fury as supermarket fly-tipping reaches record highs

Published on

Residents of Lliswerry were left dismayed following a notable increase in fly-tipping at the local Morrisons supermarket car park.

Significant quantities of garments and refuse sacks were left alongside charity collection units, with shoppers describing the condition as utterly unacceptable.

One shopper, Linda Morgan, said the collection points needed emptying more regularly and members of the public ought to show greater consideration rather than simply depositing items next to the containers.

She explained that this practice results in other people rifling through the bags to find what they want, then abandoning them across the pavement.

She described the situation as shameful.

A Morrisons spokesperson said the Salvation Army cleared the unlawfully deposited waste from the car park promptly upon being notified.

The supermarket declined to provide any further statement.
