A canine named Pepsi has now spent more than 750 days within the Dogs Trust Cardiff facility, still hoping to find a permanent home.
The five-year-old crossbreed has resided at the shelter for over two years, with staff members dedicated to finding her the perfect family.
Personnel at the centre characterise Pepsi as an energetic and affectionate animal who enjoys walks, play items, and investigating new surroundings.
She would suit a tranquil environment containing solely adult occupants and no other household pets.
Kim Davies, who oversees Dogs Trust Cardiff, explained that muzzles fulfil various functions for dogs, such as preventing them from ingesting harmful items or managing hunting instincts.
Contrary to popular belief, a muzzle does not automatically suggest a dog is aggressive.
Accustoming all dogs to wearing muzzles comfortably proves advantageous, since circumstances may develop where this becomes required.
Davies noted that Dogs Trust Cardiff currently has many dogs in need of loving homes.
She expressed that anyone who considers themselves a dog enthusiast and is willing to welcome a pet into their residence can contact the team for support.
Davies suggested that incorporating muzzle familiarisation into broader responsible pet care practices could assist more animals similar to Pepsi in finding compassionate owners.
