A new consultation is inviting local residents to share their views on pressing local issues.
Monmouthshire’s representative in Parliament, Catherine Fookes, is urging people across the area to take part in her second comprehensive survey since entering office, covering both community and national matters.
According to Ms. Fookes, remaining accessible to local people and focusing on what matters most to them throughout Monmouthshire continues to be her key aim.
She noted that understanding whether concerns have changed since the previous year would prove useful, particularly given international events.
Findings from last year’s consultation indicated that road conditions and surface deterioration ranked as the foremost concern, with two-thirds of respondents identifying it as the main difficulty in their local area.
Following this feedback, Ms. Fookes has partnered with Monmouthshire County Council and recently met with the council’s highways team to discuss potential remedies.
River and waterway pollution was highlighted as another significant problem nationally, which Ms. Fookes confirmed fits with her ongoing campaign to address river contamination across Monmouthshire.
The consultation will stay open until the middle of May, when findings will subsequently be released.
Those wanting to take part can find the survey at link.catherinefookes.com/MonSurvey2026.
Ms. Fookes explained that the survey outcomes will guide her activities both within the constituency and in Westminster, enabling her to concentrate on the issues that local people care about most.
