The A40 trunk road has been closed by traffic authorities between Crickhowell and Tretower after a crash involving vehicles.

Both directions of travel are currently obstructed and drivers are being advised to seek alternative routes.

Traffic Wales North and Mid announced that the A40 route connecting Crickhowell to Tretower remains closed at this time in both directions. Motorists should find alternate routes. Further updates will follow shortly.

Dyfed Powys Police have also confirmed their presence at the scene.

The A40 section between Glangrwyney and Bwlch remains inaccessible due to a road traffic collision. Drivers should avoid the surrounding area and select different roads for their journeys.

Officers from Dyfed Powys Police are attending the crash that occurred shortly after noon today near Crickhowell.

Additional information will be published once it comes to light.

The road remains closed from Nantyffin Cider Mill Inn (Tretower Turn Off) through to Everest Drive.

Officials have now confirmed the road has reopened to traffic.

A spokesperson said officers attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 1pm today on the A40 in the Crickhowell area.

The vehicles involved were a blue MG 3 and a black Volvo V70.

One person was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious.

The A40 road between Bwlch and Glangrwyney was closed and reopened at approximately 3:15pm, after the vehicles were recovered.

Some congestion remains in the area as a result of the earlier closure.
