Newport rail services face disruption amid delay announcements

Rail connections from Ebbw Vale to Newport are experiencing delays, with the issues expected to continue until 09:48.

Rail connections from Chepstow to Newport are also experiencing delays, with the issues expected to continue until 09:48.

According to National Rail:

An above-average number of trains require maintenance simultaneously, which is impacting rail services between Newport (South Wales) and Ebbw Vale Town. Because of this situation, a limited timetable is running between these stations. Normal service is anticipated to resume by 10:00.

Information for passengers:

The following Transport for Wales services have been cancelled: the 06:48 and 08:48 departures from Newport (South Wales) heading to Ebbw Vale Town, along with the 07:38 and 09:38 departures from Ebbw Vale Town heading to Newport (South Wales). Please be aware that direct services operating between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town continue to run normally and are not impacted by this situation.

Passengers may travel on local bus services to complete their journeys at no additional cost: Stagecoach South Wales Route 56 traveling between Newport and Crosskeys via Rogerstone and Pontymister, Route X15 traveling between Newport and Llanhilleth via Rogerstone, Crosskeys and Newbridge, and Route 151 traveling between Newport and Newbridge via Pye Corner, Rogerstone, Pontymister, Risca and Crosskeys.
