A fresh housing project has launched offering affordable and eco-conscious living spaces for residents of the area.
Located on Silurian Road in Undy, the Monmouthshire Housing Association scheme dubbed Rockfield Farm includes one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom homes.
The properties address different housing needs through a mix of rental and shared ownership arrangements.
The scheme was delivered in partnership with Monmouthshire County Council and backed by a Welsh Government Social Housing Grant. The homes boast low-carbon designs and are equipped for net-zero performance, featuring heat pump technology and solar panels.
Mary Ann Brocklesby, leader of Monmouthshire County Council, expressed her delight at visiting this impressive new development at Rockfield in Undy. She noted that affordable, sustainable and varied housing is precisely what’s needed, particularly in that part of the County. She mentioned the superb range of one, two and three bedroom homes, with appealing landscaping that fosters a sense of community, describing it as a home and neighbourhood that anyone would want to move to. She attributed this success to excellent teamwork between MCC, MHA and Harpers, working together to create a new community in southern Monmouthshire.
Every property has achieved an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A.
The scheme included environmental conservation work, such as enhancements to the Breezy Bank Site of Importance for Nature Conservation.
Chris Kinsey, assistant director of property (development) at MHA, stated that they were thrilled to see these 32 homes at Rockfield Farm completed and to observe the excitement of the first residents settling into their new properties. He noted that these homes reflect their commitment to building high-quality, energy-efficient housing that serves communities now and in the future.
The development also delivered extra benefits to the wider area through MHA’s Community Benefit Funding programme. Builder J. Harper & Sons contributed £36,000, which was distributed to local groups after a community ballot.
