An Easter celebration complete with llamas, a horse, and holiday-themed pursuits took place at a Torfaen residential care facility.
Thistle Court Care Home in Cwmbran arranged a festivities-filled day that began with an egg hunt.
Hints directed attendees from space to space, with eggs concealed throughout the building.
The programme offered something for everyone, including calmer pursuits such as Easter artwork and creating face masks.
Two llamas named Tolly and Murphy from Bedrock Alpacas, along with a pony called Max, were brought to the residence to meet the occupants.
The creatures wandered peacefully through the establishment, visiting individuals in their own bedrooms, even those confined to bed.
Those residing at the home, referred to as family members by staff, were given the chance to offer them carrot treats and enjoy stroking the docile visitors.
A charity lottery formed part of the agenda, with the top reward being a substantial Easter gift basket coordinated by the home’s manager, Tracey.
The draw collected roughly £70, with ticket sales supported not just within the residence but also by family members who distributed books of tickets throughout the neighbourhood.
The merriment continued beyond that day.
On the following afternoon, Rantastic Toe Tappers arrived, a group recognised for their musical and movement workshops.
Their sessions aim to promote light exercise and build connections through well-known melodies.
Easter rabbit ears were handed out, and attendees participated as they wished, either by singing along or joining in with the movements.
Given that the home accommodates individuals experiencing different memory challenges, special attention was given to ensuring the activities remained inclusive and comfortable, enabling each resident to take part in whatever way suited them.
Whether they followed the trail, participated briefly, or simply observed, all were included in the lively occasion.
