Rescued canine searching for fresh start with loving family

An eight-year-old Collie called Squish is hoping to find a new home after his previous owners struggled to keep him.

The pet was delivered to All Creatures Great and Small Animal Sanctuary close to Ponthir following six years living with his original family.

His former household grew to include three children, one of whom has profound autism, and this youngster’s erratic behaviour caused Squish considerable distress.

Although the family attempted to keep the child and the dog apart, they concluded that the situation was not working for either of them and made the decision to hand Squish over to the sanctuary.

The organisation described the circumstances as deeply moving.

Representatives stated that the family understood the arrangement was not fair to either party and made the challenging choice to surrender him, hoping he could be placed in a home occupied primarily by adults where he could truly prosper.

Squish requires a peaceful, low-pressure setting where he can spend his senior years in comfort.

Those considering adoption should be aware that Squish does not cope well around other dogs, cats, or small children as a result of his past experiences, though he apparently walks nicely on a lead and appreciates human company.

According to a sanctuary representative, despite his difficulties, Squish remains an intelligent and lively character.

For further information, interested parties should get in touch with the sanctuary.
