A community-wide fundraising initiative has been launched to support a young person’s battle against illness, with plans to collect more than £2.5m for essential medical care overseas.
The Help Hope for Harley event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, to assist 15-year-old Harley Harris, who desperately needs life-saving intervention that is not available domestically.

Harley was born with spondylocarpotarsal synostosis, an uncommon inherited disorder that has caused ongoing health problems affecting his skeletal system, hearing, and physical development.
After undergoing spinal surgery in 2018, his medical condition grew progressively worse.
His family subsequently learned that the surgical fusion caused his entire bronchus to collapse and destroyed his right lung along with half of his left lung.
Kelly Harris, Harley’s mother, established the Hope for Harley campaign to gather the £2.5m required for potentially life-saving medical treatment in another country.

Kyle from Only Foodz, a Caldicot business that is arranging the fundraising effort, explained that the Help Hope for Harley occasion on Saturday 11 April would run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with every penny raised going straight to Harley.
Activities encompass silent auctions, a prize draw offering complimentary meals for a month including breakfast items, burgers, and sweets, performances from live vocalists, and a DJ set. An automobile club expecting more than 50 vehicles intends to be present, suggesting a substantial crowd anticipated for the occasion.

Harley’s medical situation deteriorated following the 2018 operation.
By 2024, his respiratory capacity had fallen to merely 27 percent.
Harley’s initial spinal operation should not have been performed, and specialists have now classified Harley as impossible to operate on within Britain.
It is thought that any additional surgical intervention could leave him unable to breathe independently, paralysed, or with even more severe outcomes.
He now requires oxygen when moving about, uses a BiPAP machine during nighttime hours, and is incapable of climbing stairs.
His sole prospect rests on obtaining highly specialized attention from overseas doctors who have expertise with intricate spinal and respiratory situations.

The approximate expense of this medical care surpasses £2.5m.
The Help Hope for Harley occasion intends to gather both monetary resources and public recognition, presenting local residents with an opportunity to unite behind the young person and his family.
Harley’s family have indicated that every contribution, social media share, and demonstration of compassion moves them nearer to offering him a fresh start in life.
