MAGISTRATES’ COURT SENTENCINGS

Louis Nagy, 41, residing in Somerton Park, Newport, was ordered to pay £197 comprising a financial penalty, associated costs and an additional surcharge after admitting to obstructing a police officer in the performance of their duties on November 25 last year.

Alisia Preece, 21, of Heron Drive, Hengoed, Caerphilly, received a two-year driving ban and a community order following her conviction for driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit with 96 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on Abertridwr Road on February 10. She must complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity and pay £114 surcharge plus £85 costs.

Rhys Williams, 19, from St Helen’s Road, Abergavenny, was given a 12-month community order after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs including ecstasy, ketamine and a cannabis substance, and possessing ketamine in Abertillery on July 7 last year. He must complete 200 hours of unpaid work, was banned from driving for 30 months and ordered to pay £114, £100 in compensation and £85 costs.

Kirsty Bryson, 50, of Graig Road, Upper Cwmbran, Cwmbran, was fined and surcharged a total of £224 after admitting to driving a vehicle with an obscured registration plate at the Harlequin roundabout in Newport on October 14 last year.

Jason Rendall, 42, from William Street, Cwmfelinfach, Caerphilly, must pay £540 in fines, costs and surcharge after confessing to running a red light on Forge Road, Bassaleg, Newport on December 12 last year. Three penalty points were added to his driving licence.

Jake McQueen, 38, of Alexandra Terrace, Georgetown, Tredegar, was ordered to pay £308 in fines and surcharge for maintaining a vehicle whose registration plate did not meet regulatory requirements.

Gareth Walbeoff, 58, from Greenfield Street, New Tredegar, Caerphilly, was penalised £231 including fines, costs and surcharge after admitting to exceeding the speed limit in a 50mph zone. Three penalty points were recorded on his driving record.

Stuart Evans, 40, of Attlee Way, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, was fined £1,044 with costs and surcharge for operating a motor vehicle on a road or public area without valid insurance. Six penalty points were endorsed on his driving licence.
