People of all experience levels are invited to take part in a well-known running event with a charitable purpose.

The Cardiff 5K Road Race Series is back for its 27th edition, collecting money for SSAFA’s south east Wales division, the military charity.

SSAFA south east Wales branch chairman Michael Wheeler stated that the event has earned a solid standing over numerous years. Club athletes aiming for their fastest times mix with debut participants. Every registration benefits SSAFA South East Wales and its local efforts for current service members, former personnel and their relatives. Runners across all skill levels are welcome to join this year’s programme.

The series was established in 1998 by Graham Finlayson BEM after completing 28 years with 2nd (V) Battalion the Royal Regiment of Wales, and has become a cherished fixture in Cardiff’s running schedule.

All three events kick off at 7.30pm, with headquarters situated at the Blackweir Tavern in Cardiff.

The 2026 fixtures are scheduled for Wednesday May 20, Wednesday June 3 and Wednesday July 22.

Each contest accommodates a maximum of 400 participants, with places allocated in order of receipt.
