We’ve reached out to Gwent Police seeking clarification about why the road was closed.

Social media posts from members of the public indicate a large goods vehicle became wedged in the lane, close to the bridge.

A representative from Gwent Police stated that authorities were alerted to the stuck lorry on Lower Harpers Road, Pontypool at approximately 3.45pm on Monday 30 March.

The Gwent Police representative told the Argus that officers were present at the scene to help manage traffic flow.

Drivers have been encouraged to take different routes where feasible.

Whether the road has reopened remains unclear, as no further updates have been provided, but we’re concluding our live coverage for tonight.
