Community’s favourite café wins guarantee for years to come

The Glade Café in Rogerstone has ensured its long-term future after signing a fresh five-year lease, with the possibility of extending for an additional five years.

The popular takeaway venue located at Rogerstone Welfare Grounds, which first opened its doors in 2022 under the ownership of Sophie Prince and Alec Holdaway, will remain operational within the local community for years ahead.

The proprietors marked this significant milestone with an emotional announcement shared via social media.

The message highlighted that since receiving the keys initially, their aim had consistently been straightforward: establishing the finest possible environment for café visitors, Rogerstone residents, and all guests to The Welfare. A venue where families, couples, and children could unwind, savour quality food and beverages, and create enduring memories amid the park’s attractive setting.

The statement noted that three years later, this ambition remains unchanged, with pride in continuing to serve as a community focal point where people can gather, relax, and fully utilise the welfare grounds.

Since launching, The Glade Café has established itself as a community gathering place, with notable improvements including fresh outdoor structures and an upgraded electrical system.

The establishment has also reached the final stages of the Best Café in Wales category at the Best of Welsh Business Awards across 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Customers have expressed strong approval for the food offerings, particularly appreciating the freshly prepared morning rolls and the popular bacon sandwich as ideal ways to begin the day.

Families have valued the child-focused dishes that combine nutrition and taste, keeping younger visitors content during their visits.

Alongside responding to the positive development, Alec and Sophie expressed gratitude to their devoted patrons for their continued support and acknowledged their outstanding staff members.

They extended thanks to their wonderful customers, excellent suppliers, Rogerstone Community Council, and above all, their incredible team.

The reaction from the local community to the announcement has been decidedly enthusiastic.
